Asthma Care Clinic Overview


Clients are seen in a one-on-one informal atmosphere; adults with asthma learn about the pathophysiology of asthma and what caues an asthma attack, medications for asthma and their proper ues, environmental asthma triggers and tigger avoidance, how to track the progress of their asthma with a peak flow meter and home symptom monitoring with an asthma diary; breathing tests or pulmonary function testing, as well as a complete respiratory assessment and asthma education, are performed by a respiratory therapist. All information is communcated back to the family physicial for continuing follow-up of asthma care.

Asthma Education in the Misericordia Community Hospital and Health Centre is targeted to meet the needs of

  1. children with asthma
  2. parents/caregivers of asthmatic children
  3. adults with asthma and their families
