Welcome to Occupational Therapy
at the Misericordia Community Hospital
and Health Centre

The primary role of Occupational Therapy is to restore, maintain, or improve functional abilities and capacities of referred clients. Occupational Therapists work with clients to determine outcomes in terms of what can be reasonably expected in areas of self-care, work, and leisure. Occupational Therapists utilize unique and customized approaches to adapt the environment and to teach additional skills required for independent functioning at home and at work.

As part of the Rehabilitation team, Occupational Therapy offers direct care programs and services and is managed within the umbrella of Therapeutic Services.

Hour of operation are 0800 to 1715 Monday to Friday.

Occupational Therapists are actively involved in the assessment and treatment of both Inpatients and Outpatients. Patients are generally referred to Occupational Therapy via a written request from their physician.
