Alberta Catholic heath care facilities join together
Sixteen Catholic health care facilities across Alberta are coming together under a single board and administration.

Mission Awards 2008
The Mission Awards celebrate those individuals and teams who, through their compassion, innovation and ability to instill hope, contribute to deepening our mission and improving the quality of life of those we serve. The awards will be presented by the Caritas Board of Directors at a prestigious gala event in the spring.

Youville Home Joins Caritas
Caritas Health Group welcomed Youville Home as the latest member of the Caritas family on February 6th.

Second Wind Dreams
Initiated by the Edmonton General Continuing Care Centre's Family and Community Advisory Council, Second Wind Dreams supports activities and events of modest cost but significant impact—such as connecting with a long lost friend, reuniting with a family member, reliving a past experience, going to a concert, or being pampered in a spa.

Strategic Planning: What is it? Why Should I Care?

Building Bridges
The people who came to Caritas Mental Health Programs represent all walks of life and experience a wide range of mental illness—including depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, manic depression, obsessive—compulsive disorder and borderline personality disorder.

From the classroom to the front lines
As the afternoon shift on Unit 7 West at the Misericordia Community Hospital progresses, new nursing graduate Tina Mose is thick into the complexities and challenges of caring for six elderly patients—and loving it.This spring Tina spent 10 weeks training on the unit as a fourth-year student to complete her nursing degree requirements.

Intermediate Care: A Time to Love
While the majority of babies move from the delivery room to the postpartum unit, some babies cannot because they require extra care. Caritas Health Group plays a key role in the regional spectrum of neonatal care through Intermediate Care Nurseries (ICN) at the Grey Nuns and Misericordia Community Hospitals.

Caritas Blessed with Vibrant Volunteers
Caritas Health Group is blessed with a vibrant, dedicated group of people who volunteer their time, energy and experience to out work. In the past year approximately 1,200 volunteers from the community contributed over 100,000 hours at Caritas.

Learning on the Front Lines
As established teaching hospitals, the Misericordia and Grey Nuns Community Hospitals bring together the best of teaching and learning for the benefit of the physicians, the medical students and the patients.

Caritas Consults with the Community
Caritas Health Group went into the community in spring 2007 to get some advice on the directions we might take to be of greater service to the community. This external consultation followed a major internal consultation with 600 staff, physicians and volunteers.
