The Covenant Health Research Trust Fund was established to:

• Support research and education initiatives that advance the Covenant Health strategic plan
• Support research to improve delivery of services, patient care and patient outcome at Covenant Health 
• Support pilot projects that provide the basis for further research or are essential to the further development and potential of receiving external funding

Funds come from the following sources:

• Surplus funds from researchers contributed on a voluntary basis
• Accrued interest on research trust accounts
• Other funds contributed to support research

Who is eligible for a grant?

• Anyone conducting research at a Covenant Health facility may apply for a grant. Priority will be given to Covenant Health staff members and Covenant Health medical staff.
• Other applications will be considered on the basis of the benefit to Covenant Health patients and to Covenant Health in general.
• The research must have Health Research Ethics Board (HREB) approval.
• The research must have Covenant Health Administrative Approval if the study is taking place at Covenant Health.

How will my grant request be considered?

• The Covenant Health Research Centre circulates your request to the Covenant Health Research Steering Committee members for approval.

What is the maximum grant I can apply for?

• The maximum grant for a research study from the Covenant Health Research Steering Committee is $5,000.

What expenses will be considered for funding?

• Funding is not provided for fees or salary for the principal investigator.
• Funds may be requested for costs not associated with standard treatment (i.e. lab tests, diagnostic imaging procedures) and supplies.
• The funds requested must be to cover research-related expenses.

How do I apply for a grant?

• Write a letter of request to the attention of the Chair, Covenant Helath Research Steering Committee.
• The letter should include the following information: (i) amount requested, (ii) detailed budget, (iii) other sources of funding received or applied for, (iv) benefit to Covenant Health patients or research initiatives.
• Forward this letter to the:
