Outpatient Clinics
Obstetrical Outpatient Assessment Clinic The Obstetrical Outpatient Assessment Clinic (OAC) is a four-bed unit located on 3 East Maternity Unit at the Misericordia Community Hospital. Women visit this clinic to undergo monitor testing, ultrasounds and other outpatient procedures. Your doctor will inform you of whether you need to visit this clinic for testing.
Inpatient Units
Labour and Delivery Unit With 11 birthing rooms, two operating rooms, one recovery room and one bereavement room, the Labour and Delivery Unit is well equipped to help you deliver your baby. Obstetricians and Family Physicians are able to deliver at the Misericordia. An epidural service is available.
3 East Maternity Unit 3 East is a 20-bed Maternity Unit with theme, private, semi-private and ward rooms. The average length of stay for a normal delivery is 24 to 36 hours and 36 to 72 hours for a caesarian section. Please note that the theme and private rooms cannot be pre-booked.
Intermediate Care Nursery We are a 12-bed two pod unit located between Labour and Delivery and Post Partum. Our interprofessional team consists of neonatologists, nurses, respiratory therapists, social workers and dieticians. Babies who require specialized care after delivery are cared for in the ICN. Parents are welcome to visit their babies at any time of day or night.
Boarder Room This is a four-bed room located on the 4th floor, 4W, room 402. This room is for mothers only who are themselves discharged from the hospital but their baby still requires specialized care in the ICN. This is made available so Mothers can remain near their baby and assists in transitioning from hospital to home.
