Outpatient Clinics
Obstetrical Outpatient Clinic The Obstetrical Outpatient Clinic is a five-bed unit located on the Labour and Delivery floor at the Misericordia Community Hospital. Women visit this clinic on a daily basis to undergo monitor testing, ultrasounds and other outpatient procedures. Your doctor will inform you of whether you need to visit this clinic for testing.
In-patient Units
Labour and Delivery Unit With 11 birthing rooms, two operating rooms, one recovery room and one bereavement room, the Labour and Delivery Unit is well equipped to help you deliver your baby. Please note that Obstetricians, Family Physicians and Midwives are able to deliver at the Misericordia and that an epidural service is available for all Moms delivering at our hospital.
The Labour Delivery Recovery and Postpartum (LDRP) concept is also available for women delivering their babies at the Misericordia. With LDRP, you can deliver your baby and recover in one room instead of spending each phase of your delivery and recovery in a different area of the Obstetrics Unit.
3 East Maternity Unit The average length of stay for a normal delivery is 24 to 36 hours and 36 to 72 hours for a caesarian section. To make this stay as comfortable as possible, the 3 East Maternity Unit provides women with a total of 20 beds which include theme, private, semi-private and ward rooms. Please note that the Maternity rooms cannot be pre-booked.
Intermediate Care Nursery Babies who require special care following delivery are placed in this 12-bed nursery. An interdisciplinary team of doctors, nurses and other health care professionals work to provide a supportive atmosphere from which babies are discharged to parents who can independently care for them.
Parents are welcome to visit their babies in the Intermediate Care Nursery at anytime.
Hostel Room Mothers who are discharged and have babies in the Intermediate Care Nursery can stay overnight in the Hostel Room prior to discharge. Lockers, a refrigerator, bedding and showers are provided.
Adjustment Room Prior to discharge of their baby, mothers may use the Adjustment Room in the Intermediate Care Nursery. This room in the unit provides mothers with the opportunity to care for their baby overnight, with support of the Intermediate Care nurses.
