Lithotripsy
Lithotripsy is a non-surgical treatment of kidney stones that uses shock waves to break down calcium deposits in the kidney.

The Misericordia's Lithotripsy program began in 1989. The lithotripsy therapeutic equipment – called a lithotripter – was one of the first units of its kind in North America.

'We are constantly searching for ways to integrate new tools and techniques to enhance outcomes for our patients and communities'

Patients as far away as British Columbia and the Northwest Territories travel to the hospital to receive this quick and painless treatment.  An urologist performs the procedure along with a team of health professionals.  With this non-surgical technique, patients recover faster and return sooner to work or their daily activities.
The Lithotripsy program is an example of Caritas Health Group's commitment to innovate technologies to improve patient outcomes.
