There are many services located at the Edmonton General for you to enjoy. Please contact individual vendors for prices and schedules.

 

The Rendez-vous is a public café, located on the main floor, which sells meals, beverages and snacks. Open daily.

 

A gift and flower shop, run by the Associates of Caritas, is located on the main floor across from the Rendez-vous Café. Items available include greeting cards, magazines, scratch lottery tickets, snacks, flowers and gifts. Open daily. Profits benefit the continuing care program. Please phone 482-8027 to order flowers.

 

Movie service

Residents may borrow videos from Volunteer Services. Two videos may be signed out each day. Video rentals are free of charge to residents. For information call 482-8270.

 

Telephones are available on each unit for resident use. There is no charge for local calls. Public pay phones are located in the Youville Lobby. To order a personal phone, contact Telus at 310-2255 to make arrangements for installation. Telus will bill you directly for this service.

 

Cable television service is available.

 

Monthly parking passes can be purchased. Contact your RCM for details.

 

A mailbox is located on the main floor. Stamps are available for purchase at the Gift Shop. In-coming mail is delivered to each resident. Your address will be:

Hair Affair, a beauty salon and barber shop run by the Associates of Caritas, is located on the main floor. For hours of operation or to book an appointment, contact the salon at 482-8032. Proceeds benefit the continuing care program.

 

On-site laundry service is available for personal items at a monthly fee (see page 26). All clothing needs to be labeled. Labels are available on-site. Please check with your RCM for information and costs.

 

A podiatrist visits the facility regularly. Ask your Resident Care Manager for details and costs.

 

You may wish to access and pay for the services of health care providers who are not on staff with the Edmonton General (massage therapists, chiropractors, physiotherapists, dentists and so on). Please speak with your RCM before making appointments or arranging visits.

Several companies offer paid companion services to residents. Companions make personal visits, accompany residents on excursions and help with personal care. Companies are listed in the Edmonton Yellow Pages. Talk with your RCM for more information.
