Communication
At the Edmonton General we are constantly striving to maintain an open, honest system of communication between our residents, their families and hospital staff and administration. To this end we have established a number of procedures to help ensure that you can speak freely with your caregivers at all times.

Admission Conference
An admission conference will be held within the first six weeks of your arrival at the Edmonton General. Any concerns or questions will be thoroughly discussed at this time. If, at any time, you or your family would like to have an additional meeting with your caregivers, please speak with your Resident Care Manager.

Annual reviews
A review of your care, which involves detailed written contributions from members of your care team, will take place annually. If you would like a meeting to discuss the review please talk to your RCM.

Compliments/concerns
We appreciate receiving compliments from you and your family. Please share these with us. If you or your family have a concern that has not been resolved through discussion with your Resident Care Manager, we would like to address it in a prompt and professional manner. Please voice your concerns by contacting the Administration Office in 5Y35.

Residents' Council
Residents' Council consists of a group of volunteer residents who meet monthly with the Vice-President of Continuing Care to voice their perspectives, experiences and day-to-day concerns on behalf of all residents of the Edmonton General Continuing Care Centre. The purpose of the group is to facilitate and promote communication regarding quality of life. You and your family members are welcome to attend these meetings as observers. Contact your Resident Care Manager for details.

Family and Community Advisory Council
The Family and Community Advisory Council is a group of volunteers who serve in an advisory capacity to the Vice President of Continuing Care. Their role is to provide feedback on your quality of life in their capacity as your families and friends. A key component of the work of this committee is to gain awareness of issues facing the continuing care program and to advocate internally and externally on your behalf.
For information on the Family and Community Advisory Council, call the Administration Office at 482-8900 for contact information on the current Chair of the committee.
