Students who have satisfactorily completed all requirements of the third (3rd) year of an educational program leading to a baccalaureate degree in nursing may be eligible to apply as a UNE.  The UNE utilizes the nursing process to provide safe, basic nursing care for assigned patients  including medication administration.  All activities are performed within a patient-centered interdisciplinary team environment.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Completion of all requirements of the 3rd year of a 4 year Collaborative Nursing Degree Program from a recognized post secondary institution;
  • Heart & Stroke Foundation BLS (Level C) Health Care Provider is required;
  • Continued employment requires that the UNE remain enrolled as a registered student in an approved nursing education program.

PLEASE NOTE:  Currently, nursing students in a Diploma program, After-Degree program, or LPN Bridging to RN program are not eligible for UNE employment.
