Undergraduate Nursing Employees (UNE)
Students who have satisfactorily completed all requirements of the third (3rd) year of an educational program leading to a baccalaureate degree in nursing may be eligible to apply as a UNE. The UNE utilizes the nursing process to provide safe, basic nursing care for assigned patients including medication administration. All activities are performed within a patient-centered interdisciplinary team environment.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Completion of all requirements of the 3rd year of a 4 year Collaborative Nursing Degree Program from a recognized post secondary institution;
- Heart & Stroke Foundation BLS (Level C) Health Care Provider is required;
- Continued employment requires that the UNE remain enrolled as a registered student in an approved nursing education program.
PLEASE NOTE: Currently, nursing students in a Diploma program, After-Degree program, or LPN Bridging to RN program are not eligible for UNE employment.

Summer Temporary Employment Program (STEP)
The STEP program is offered in conjunction with Alberta Human Resources and Employment (AHRE), in an effort to help Albertans who would benefit from temporary employment during the spring and summer months - typically post-secondary students and high school students.

This 6-week internship program offers high school students the opportunity to gain insight and understanding into the various health careers available through partnerships between healthcare providers and secondary educational institutions.
