Patient Care Manager, Operating/Recovery Room
Grey Nuns Community Hospital
Being wheeled into an operating theatre for surgery can be a stressful experience—and the assurance of being in the hands of skilled and compassionate professionals is a great gift to patients at this critical time. For Dianne Johnson, Patient Care Manager of the Grey Nuns Operating and Recovery Room—creating this environment of safety and trust is a primary goal. "We speak to each person by name, and try to address any specific fears they have," she explains.
Making special efforts to meet patient needs comes quite naturally to proud registered nurse Dianne. She even invites parents of our youngest patients into the operating theatre, so they can comfort their children while they drift into the slumber of general anesthetic. "Dianne works for the patients, not because of the patients," explains a colleague. |
As manager of a busy department of highly skilled professionals, Dianne's gift of leadership has also created a positive environment for her colleagues—one that embraces positive change, and fosters professional excellence, personal growth and a sense of fun. "Dianne leads by example," explains a coworker. "She demands excellence in patient care, and calls for respect between patients, staff, nurses, doctors and support staff. Quite simply, she lives the mission and values of Caritas Health Group."
