It has been 112 years since the Sisters of Charity (Grey Nuns) opened the Edmonton General, the city's first hospital.

Here, visionary and dedicated health pioneers introduced Edmonton's first x-ray maching and established the first hospital unit dedicated to excellence in end-of-life care.

Over the years, the Edmonton General, and the Misericordia and Grey Nuns Community Hosptials that followed, have continued to lead the way with innovative solutions and approaches, ground-breaking techniques, research and collaboration.

In our tradition as a Catholic provider of health care, this is what matters: reaching out in compassion, acting with reourcefulness, offering our very best to those we serve, and, ultimately, making a difference at the most profound and vulnerable moments of people's lives.

We applaud our physicians, staff and volunteers for their tireless efforts to foster hope and healing, seven days a week and 24 hours a day. And we are grateful for our larger community of care—funders and community partners, donors and supporters, and family members of patients and residents—as together we work for a better tomorrow.
