Effective November 27, 2008, our name is "Covenant Health."
Our new name and logo was developed following consultation with facility leaders, board, executive and Foundation representatives, and the Bishops of Alberta to clearly express our Catholic values, roots and traditions.
As a Catholic organization, we chose the word "covenant" to affirm our faith in God's promises and to express our dedication to carrying on the healing ministry of Jesus. Our name speaks of our deep commitment to caring for the whole person and unconditional service to people of all faiths, cultures and circumstances. This is reinforced by a positioning statement "Compassionate care led by Catholic values," which will appear on all of our materials.
At each of our 16 sites, the new name will be combined with the facility name to form a new visual identity for each facility—bringing together the strength of each team and their contributions with the great potential we have as a provincial organization to be of greater service to Albertans.
Today we also are pleased to share with you the mission, vision and values for our new organization, which build on the traditions, insights and dreams of our member facilities.
Mission We are called to continue the healing ministry of Jesus by serving with compassion, upholding the sacredness of life in all stages, and caring for the whole person – body, mind and soul.
Vision Covenant Health will positively influence the health of Albertans and be of greater service to those in need by working together with compassion, quality and innovation.
Values As a Catholic organization, we are committed to serving people of all faiths, cultures and circumstances, according to our values: Compassion, Respect, Collaboration, Social Justice, Integrity and Stewardship
Today marks an important day for our organization in coming together as a community of care and advancing our work as a provincial organization dedicated to serving all Albertans and growing to meet the needs of the most vulnerable in our society.
As Covenant Health, we look forward to working with you in our shared efforts to positively influence the health of Albertans now and into the future.
Regards,
W. John Brennan Chair, Board of Directors
